April 25, 2010 - April 2010 - Three Hailey's Halos Given Out
It's been a busy couple of weeks for the Foundation. We just gave out three more Halos to people nominated by YOU. Thank you for sending these sweet families to us:
Jordan Okruhlik
Jordan was born with a segmental hemangioma. A hemangioma is a benign tumor that grows rapidly the first 6-9 months of life and then starts to fade. Most hemangiomas don’t cause a lot of problems, but because Jordan’s covered most of her face, she had several complications.

George, Isaac, and Noah Cannon
George, Isaac, and Noah were born at 27 and a half weeks after Michelle had been on bed rest for the previous 9 weeks due to preterm labor, just hoping to get them to a point where they could potentially survive when born.

January 26, 2010 - Feature Article in the Morning Call
"A day after losing their 3-year-old daughter, Hailey, Sean Vassilaros and his wife, Wendy, faced the heart-breaking task of deciding what to do about gift inquiries. Instead of designating an established charity to receive donations, the grieving couple decided soon after Hailey's death last year to create a foundation in her memory. And they chose to run it on Facebook.
By doing so, they joined a growing number of people who are harnessing the power of online social networking sites, such as Facebook, to honor the memory of loved ones. In the process, they are redefining the way a typical charitable organization is run."
